Catholic Charities Corporation Administrative Offices:
7911 Detroit AvenueAt the heart of every CYO Athletics program is the coach.
Every coach has an amazing opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young people. The coach is a teacher of values, skills and life lessons. Being a coach is a privilege, a challenge and a responsibility. It is an invitation to serve God and His children.
A coach's role begins by helping youth grow and develop from young athletes into tomorrow’s leaders. Our coaches accomplish this by modeling Christ-like values while patiently teaching skills to athletes of all levels, sharing experiences with their team, and treating everyone with dignity.
Your coaching style, philosophy and personal qualities are instrumental in helping young people become more Christ-like in the way they live. Your positive guidance can make a difference in their lives.
Once the season begins, all eyes will be upon the coach. Respect for your opponents, the decisions of the officials and your players are reflective of your character.
Sportsmanship begins with you, as you set the example for your athletes. You build character by making the effort to be the best you can be. Coaches influence their players and their families long after they end their CYO experience.
May God guide you along this journey as you make a difference in the lives of many young people.
