Welcome CYO Coaches!

At the heart of every CYO Athletics program is the coach.

Every coach has an amazing opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young people. The coach is a teacher of values, skills and life lessons. Being a coach is a privilege, a challenge and a responsibility. It is an invitation to serve God and His children.

*CYO Athletics' Response to COVID-19

CYO staff is monitoring safety guidelines, best practices and protocols from local and state health departments, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Ohio High School Athletic Association to provide the safest possible environment for coaches, athletes, officials and spectators.

In order to be prepared for the spring season, read our General Guidelines and Best Practices Document.

Please also download our COVID-19 Athlete Symptom Monitoring Form. Forms must be completed by head coaches at the start of every game and practice. If an athlete answers YES to any of the questions, they MUST be sent home.

All CYO coaches must also download and complete this COVID-19 release form before the beginning of the season. Please submit the completed release form to your parish/school volunteer coordinator.

Your Role

A coach's role begins by helping youth grow and develop from young athletes into tomorrow’s leaders. Our coaches accomplish this by modeling Christ-like values while patiently teaching skills to athletes of all levels, sharing experiences with their team, and treating everyone with dignity.

Your coaching style, philosophy and personal qualities are instrumental in helping young people become more Christ-like in the way they live. Your positive guidance can make a difference in their lives.

Once the season begins, all eyes will be upon the coach. Respect for your opponents, the decisions of the officials and your players are reflective of your character.

Sportsmanship begins with you, as you set the example for your athletes. You build character by making the effort to be the best you can be. Coaches influence their players and their families long after they end their CYO experience.

May God guide you along this journey as you make a difference in the lives of many young people.
