Family Advocates

Parents are an essential part of the early learning experience and are welcomed and encouraged to participate in all aspects of the program. Each family is assigned a family advocate who helps them through the enrollment process and assists with:

• creating family partnerships goals such as kindergarten readiness, parenting education, job readiness, adult education and housing assistance
• providing referrals to help achieve family partnership goals
• securing access to health, nutrition and disability services and resources

Parent Committee Groups

Parents with a child enrolled at one of our Early Learning Centers have the opportunity to participate in the Parent Committee Group. At the beginning of each school year, the Parent Committee elects its officers to include a chairperson, vice chairperson, secretary and treasurer. Each month a meeting is conducted at each site to discuss classroom activities and upcoming events, and community representatives are present to provide parents with information and services.

Policy Committee Group

Each Parent Committee Group elects representatives to serve on the Policy Committee Group. The Policy Committee Group meets once a month with Catholic Charities Early Learning & Head Start management staff, as well as community representatives and Catholic Charities Board of Directors members to advocate and make recommendations to improve our programs. Parents who serve on the Policy Committee Group may be nominated to represent Head Start at various advocacy and training events.
