Camp Christopher
Catholic Charities Corporation Administrative Offices:
7911 Detroit AvenueSpecial Needs Camp --- One session each month, Camp Christopher opens its doors to provide persons with developmental disabilities the opportunity to spend time relaxing and enjoying activities.
What is Respite? At Camp Christopher, our Respite program provides a much-needed break for families while ensuring their loved ones enjoy safe, engaging, and meaningful experiences. Rooted in our mission to serve others with compassion and respect, this program offers participants the opportunity to form lasting friendships, create cherished memories, and take part in recreation tailored to their needs. Families frequently share how impactful and uplifting this program has been for them and their loved ones, providing peace of mind while fostering joy and growth for all involved.
Join us for a fun, relaxing stay at Camp Christopher with friends! Each month offers something new! In the summer months campers may enjoy activities on the campgrounds, including swimming, horseback riding, hayrides, and campfires. In the colder months we have games, puzzles and holiday activities! Check out our newsletter for more details on each months activities.
Campers must be 13 years of age and up for the weekend camps, and 18 years of age and up for the weeklong session in the summer. Due to the program’s active schedule, participants must have basic personal care skills and be capable of demonstrating appropriate behavior, especially in public places. Nursing staff is available to dispense medications and minor medical treatments throughout the session.
Campers stay in fully accessible, dormitory-style cabins. Cabins are segregated into males and females. Each cabin features bunk beds and one in-cabin restroom. Although some terrain on the campgrounds is rough, the facility includes walkways to and from key areas.
The staff that resides in the cabins with our campers receive all required training of Home and Community Based Waiver Providers for the State of Ohio. The level of support for the program is one staff person for every five campers in attendance.
