The Community Respite Program typically operates from 6:00 pm on Friday to 11:00 am on Sunday. Campers may attend the whole session, or may choose to attend one day or one night.

What to Expect

On a typical weekend, campers may enjoy activities on the campgrounds, including swimming, horseback riding, hayrides, and campfires.

The staff that resides in the cabins with our Respite Campers receive all required training of Home and Community Based Waiver Providers for the State of Ohio. The ratio for the program is one staff person for every five campers in attendance.

Camper Requirements

Campers must be 13 years of age and up. Due to the program’s active schedule, participants must have basic personal care skills and be capable of demonstrating appropriate behavior, especially in public places. Nursing staff is available to dispense medications and minor medical treatments throughout the session.

Accommodations

Campers stay in fully accessible, dormitory-style cabins segregated by gender. Each cabin features a wheelchair ramp, bunk beds, and one in-cabin restroom. Although some terrain on the campgrounds is rough, the facility includes walkways to and from key areas.

Payment & Funding

This program is available for self-pay; however, the local county board of developmental disabilities and the Medicaid Waiver may provide funding for this program.

Note: All sessions require a fee upon registration. This fee is for food, lodging and activities. The fee rate is the same for campers that choose to bring their food. Funding sources, including Medicaid Waiver, typically do not reimburse for this fee.
