Registration Process for Respite Camp

1. Please complete the online questionnaire to provide us with essential information about your camper's needs and preferences. Begin by clicking the blue "New Campers" button below.

New Campers

2. If your camper is approved to attend the program, we will contact your SSA for a current copy of your camper’s Individualized Service Plan (ISP) or Individualized Education Plan (IEP) to help us understand their unique needs.

3. Camper’s ISP/ IEP will be reviewed by camp team. They will determine appropriateness for program and reach out with any questions or concerns.

4. If the camp team and providers feel the program can adequately meet the camper’s needs, we will schedule a trial day to ensure compatibility with our program and assess how we can best support them during their stay. This is a requirement for all campers before registering for an overnight program

All applications are considered PENDING until a determination on the camper's acceptance status has been made by Camp Christopher Staff. Camper's documents (registration form, medical form, IEP/ISP, Prior Authorization for Funding, etc) will be reviewed by camp administration before acceptance into Respite, SumFun, and/or Discovery Camp Programs.

Returning Campers

If your camper has attended Community Respite in the past 12 months please click the "Returning Campers" button to complete your registration. If your camper has not attended in over a year, please complete the steps listed above.

About Community Respite

Join us for a fun, relaxing weekend at Camp Christopher with friends! Each month offers something new! In the summer months campers may enjoy activities on the campgrounds, including swimming, horseback riding, hayrides, and campfires. In the colder months we have games, puzzles and holiday activities! See the monthly newsletter for more details on each months activities.

Campers stay in fully accessible, dormitory-style cabins segregated by gender. Each cabin features bunk beds and one in-cabin restroom. Although some terrain on the campgrounds is rough, the facility includes walkways to and from key areas.

The staff that resides in the cabins with our Respite Campers receive all required training of Home and Community Based Waiver Providers for the State of Ohio. The ratio for the program is one staff person for every five campers in attendance.

Camper Requirements

Campers must be 13 years of age and up. Due to the program’s active schedule, participants must have basic personal care skills and be capable of demonstrating appropriate behavior, especially in public places. Nursing staff is available to dispense medications and minor medical treatments throughout the session.

Medications

Please complete the medication form before arriving to Respite each session. This must be completed and accurate in order for medications to be passed to your camper. Bring this form with you when you arrive at Camp Christopher.
