Wellness Warriors is an inclusive health and wellness group for individuals of all ability levels interested in exploring new ways to build a happy and healthy life.
During this 10-week introductory series, participants engage in physical activity, learn about health and wellness, and socialize with friends.
The 4 Areas of Health & Wellness explored include:
Physical Health, Emotional Health, Social Health, and Spiritual Health (which includes personal values and engaging in meaningful activities individually and in our community)
This series was created to support individuals of all ability levels. Group activities have been designed to support those with intellectual & developmental disabilities (IDD) , Mobility Limitations (ML), and their peers.
Instructors:
Patty McGuire - Adaptive Jazzercise Instructor and Health & Wellness Educator
Lauren Mailey - Intervention Specialist, SEL Educator (Social & Emotional Learning), and Catholic Charities Disability Services & Ministries, Program Manager
Teaching Assistants/Peer Models: For many of our group sessions, we will have one or more individuals (with IDD) who have completed the Wellness Warrior-Intro Series in the role of assistant teacher/peer model.
We currently offer Wellness Warriors to individuals attending adult activity centers at SAW Inc., a community partner of Catholic Charities, Disability Services & Ministries.
Additional groups are offered throughout the year at OLA/St. Joseph Center in Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood. Please contact our office for more information about our next 10-week session or to arrange for a group session at your location.
