7911 Detroit AvenueDisability Services and Ministries Community-Based Programming provides a range of services designed to support individuals with disabilities and their families, empowering them to engage in all aspects of community.
Since 1989, Disability Services & Ministries has been dedicated to meeting both the educational and social needs of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) while providing respite for families/caregivers.
The Disability Services & Ministries “Saturday Program” provides a safe and supportive space for participants to learn new skills, develop friendships, and explore the greater community.
Participants engage in a variety of activities including:
Participants also go on monthly community outings and engage with frequent guest speakers and instructors from the community.
Participants are supported based on their individual needs with the goal of providing participants a well-rounded experience that fosters development and belonging.
The following are the requirements for acceptance into the Saturday Adult Social & Educational Program:
1. Participant must be willing to participate in all of the activities offered.
2. Participant must have a completed application on file with DSM office.
3. Participant must be independent in the following areas:
a. Must be able to show evidence of appropriate behavior in various situations.*
b. Must be able to feed and dress themselves.*
c. Must be able to independently care for all their personal hygiene needs.*
d. Must be able to adjust to various group situations.*
* On a case-by-case basis, we may be able to support individuals with greater needs. Please discuss supports needed with Program Manager.
The Saturday Adult Social & Educational Program is held most Saturdays from 9:30am to 3:00pm from September through May at OLA/St. Joseph Center in Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood.
If paying privately, the cost for the program is $100.00 a month. Our program is IO or Level 1 Waiver certified, under the certification area of "Community Respite". Please contact your Support Administrator to coordinate paying for the Saturday Program with a waiver. Limited financial assistance is available on an individual basis to those with the greatest need.
