FAQs

Are these individuals legally able to work?

Yes, all refugees and immigrants that are in employment programming have valid work authorization and do not need any sponsorship or visa support. Catholic Charities staff will help you understand their documentation and assist with completing the onboarding paperwork appropriately.

I have never hired a refugee before, what should I expect?

Refugee and immigrant employees do have different barriers than your traditional employee, but the hiring process should be conducted exactly the same as you would for any candidate.  Refugees and immigrants may have limited English skills, but the Catholic Charities staff member will work with you to provide interpretation and determine what other supports can be put in place to mitigate language barriers. Refugees and immigrants often arrive to the US with employment history and skills, along with a strong desire to succeed.

What will it cost me to work with Catholic Charities?

We are here to meet your staffing and production needs. Catholic Charities is not a staffing agency and all services are FREE to the employer. We want to meet you where you are at and fill your needs with non-traditional candidates that are ready for success.

What if I have a refugee/immigrant employee that seems to be struggling?

Contact your Catholic Charities staff member who can assist with job coaching, provide interpretation support, or meet with the employee directly to identify other needs.
