This past Saturday CYO hosted its annual Member Leadership Conference at the Brecksville Community Center.
Many CYO Athletic Directors (ADs) gathered to learn about changes to the organization, gain new ideas for upcoming sports seasons, voice their opinions and questions to the CYO staff, and more!
CYO’s goal is to not only challenges children to be the best athletes they can be but wants to encourage them to never give up their faith.
“Winning is good, competing is good. But there is something more important… The trophy gives us the championship, but when we [ADs and staff] give them the heart of CYO we give them our faith.” Director of CYO Paul Kelly said.
The attendees and staff then broke out into groups to discuss their achievements within their schools, what worked/didn’t work for them, and any opportunities that could help one another.
This conference also included presentations by Dobie Moser about the mental health crisis in children and Rev. Michael G. Woost on how ADs and CYO can continue to provide help, create hope, and serve all.
Rev. Woost mentioned that ADs can provide help by forming these children for the future, create hope by helping them realize what their gifts and talents are, and serve all by inviting, welcoming, and encouraging the children to grow.
At the end of this event, CYO staff gave certificates to acknowledge those who have been with CYO for five years or more and announce the recipients of the Cleveland Browns Grant awards.
Thank you to all the ADs who participated in this year’s conference and for all the work you do for your schools!
