Foster Care Services

Eligibility

Catholic Charities requires all prospective foster parents and families to meet the following criteria before moving forward with the process:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Attend Catholic Charities Foster Parent Orientation
• Complete Catholic Charities Foster Parent Pre-Service Training
• Complete a state of Ohio and FBI background check, as well as one for each household member 18 and over
• Complete a county and state abuse/neglect background check, as well as one for each household member 18 and over
• Have an up-to-date medical exam
• Have sufficient income to meet the needs of your own household
• Complete a homestudy interview

In addition to the above criteria, we look for foster parents with the following qualities:

• Flexibility
• Commitment
• Availability
• Acceptance
• Sense of humor
• Stability
• Supportiveness
• Desire to parent
