This past Friday, Catholic Charities Summit County hosted its 7thAnnual Derby for Dollars event at Portage Country Club in Akron!
All proceeds from this event go towards our Summit County Emergency Assistance program, which includes serving hot meals three times during the week, and short-term financial assistance for rent, utilities, car repairs, phone/internet services, and more.
We continue to distribute $5,000-$6,000 per week in emergency financial assistance and an average of 250-300 hot meals per week at Visitation of Mary and Blessed Trinity.
This event consisted of a cocktail hour for guests to socialize, enjoy small appetizers, and look at auction items before going to the dining room for dinner and the presentation.
Not only was this night about bringing awareness to those we serve but also a celebration for a group of individuals who have done so much to make this work possible.
The Hall of Honor is the highest recognition bestowed upon volunteers and staff.
Induction to the Hall of Honor connects us to our past, respects the important contributions of our founders, and continues to recognize the significant leadership which has shaped the direction of our agency for more than 100 years.
This year’s inductees included:
- Linda Nuosci
- Gail Angeletti
- David Bedell
- Philip Maynard (Posthumous)
- Deacon William Yoho
Congratulations to the Hall of Honor Class of 2023 and thank you to all of our sponsors, supporters, and attendees for making this event so successful!
