Today for Women’s History Month, we honor Director of Ashland and Wayne County Sheryl Villegas, who has been with Catholic Charities for 15 years.
Every day looks different for Sheryl, but usually, she is in a Zoom or in-person meeting with other community agencies or funders. She meets with staff, addresses emergency needs, writes grants and reports, talks with clients and community members, and discusses the needs for the community. Her favorite thing about her job is hearing about the impact that her staff is making with those who they serve. She loves when a staff member shares a success story or times when they have really made a difference in someone’s life. Sheryl does not feel like she has had her greatest accomplishment yet; however, she loves when she is able to create a new program that the community needs. It makes her feel like they are responsive and relevant. She is proud of how her staff has stepped up to help older adults in Wayne and Ashland County during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
