Community group including Catholic Charities Lake County developing suicide prevention program

"We wanted to do something that made a difference," said Kelly Davis, director of the Catholic Commission of Lake and Geauga Counties, part of our Social Action office.

Davis is a participant in Leadership Lake County, Inc.'s Community Builders program, which will soon begin a suicide prevention and awareness campaign on a grassroots level, in collaboration with the Lake County Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services Board.

Davis will focus on the campaign to reach seniors, as she found they aren’t many resources on suicide prevention specifically for senior citizens.

"If we can save one person from suicide that is a thousand times better."
