Established by Ohio Statute, the Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board is responsible for evaluating, planning, funding, and monitoring services to help Lake County residents who are dealing with a mental illness and/or addiction.

The mission of the Lake County Department of Job and Family Services is to provide public assistance, child and adult protective services, child support enforcement and employment and training programs to the citizens of Lake County in a manner that recognizes and preserves individual rights, responsibilities and dignity so that families, children and adults are able to restore, maintain or improve their capabilities for self support and family life.

Lake County Family & Children First Council
Each year, our Council members craft our Shared Plan, also called a Child Well Being Plan, for the state. In the plan, we highlight our priorities for meeting needs, and making life better for children and families. By law, FCFCs focus on specific priorities:

  • Expectant parents and newborns thriving 
  • Infants and toddlers thriving
  • Children being ready for school
  • Children and youth succeeding in school
  • Youth choosing health behaviors
  • Youth successfully transitioning into adulthood, and
  • A detailed procedure for how to coordinate services

The mission of Torchlight Youth Mentoring Alliance is to foster the development of youth to reach their highest potential as responsible, adaptable, caring adults. Torchlight Youth Mentoring Alliance accomplishes this by providing a quality volunteer mentoring relationship with a supportive adult, as well as educational programs that are supervised by the agency’s professional staff.
