Catholic Charities has served the Hispanic community in Cleveland for over 40 years; and Ramonita Rodriguez-Johnson is a constant and integral part of that service. Since beginning her career at Catholic Charities 45 years ago, she has been the director of several programs: the Catholic Charities Hispanic Family Center, the Catholic Charities Hispanic Services Offices, and the Catholic Charities Hispanic Senior Center. In all of those posts, she recruited, hired, and trained employees. Dedicated to staff development, she cultivates and maintains a positive work culture, while supporting personal and professional growth.

Growing up in the neighborhood, Ramonita is uniquely able to assess the needs of her clients and implement programs to meet those needs. The strong referral network she has cultivated over the years allows countless clients access to healthcare and support services. Not only does Ramonita successfully provide individual services for her clients, she is also able to analyze larger programs and create strategies for improvement. She is an adept problem-solver: she studies what works for the seniors and what does not, and nimbly pivots accordingly. Because of this, her work at the Hispanic Senior Center, “never feels stagnant.”

Ramonita also designs culturally specific programming to reach a diverse audience. She created, implemented, and supervised a summer prevention program for local Latino/a children, ages 14-18. Students learn leadership skills while performing original works to preschoolers within the community.

Ramonita holds a Masters of Education in Community Counseling and a BA in Social work, both from Cleveland State University. Fluent in Spanish and English, she is also a licensed social worker and Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor, and is a certified Ohio Prevention Specialist.
