Catholic Charities Corporation Administrative Offices:
7911 Detroit AvenueProject Rachel is the U.S. Catholic Church's ministry to help those experiencing the pain and hurt following an abortion
Project Rachel is a diocesan-based network of specially-trained priests, religious, counselors and laypersons who provide a team response of care for those suffering in the aftermath of abortion.
"Thus says the Lord: In Ramah is heard the sound of moaning, of bitter weeping! Rachel mourns her children, she refuses to be consoled because her children are no more. Thus says the Lord: Cease your cries of mourning, wipe the tears from your eyes. The sorrow you have shown shall have its reward, says the Lord, they shall return from the enemy’s land. There is hope for your future, says the Lord; Your children shall return to their own borders." —Jeremiah 31: 15-17 (Inspiration for Project Rachel)
In addition to referring for Sacramental Reconciliation, the ministry provides an integrated network of services, including pastoral counseling, spiritual direction and referrals to mental health professionals. Support groups and retreats may be offered in addition to individualized care.
